The holiday season is now upon us with Thanksgiving just 3 weeks away. The holiday season often puts people in the giving spirit. With so many options it’s hard to navigate what organizations to donate to and what they need.

Operation Angle Tree

Every year the salvation army gathers information for a child so they have the opportunity to open a gift on Christmas morning. The Salvation Army collects necessary information on children and elderly in the community. Their Christmas lists are shared and can be adopted by a member of the community to wish to spread some holiday cheer. Angles can be adopted at the following locations.

Angels can be also be adopted at the Dallas Salvation Army Christmas Center or online through the Salvation Army website. The last day for adoption and present drop off is December 3.

Operation Christmas Spirt

Going on 19 years, operation Christmas spirt aims to bring the gift of Christmas to children and families of a service member. By “adopting” a family or child you are ensuring that they are able to have presents to open on Christmas morning. Once the adoption form has been complete, donors receive the wish list for their family. Donors then mail their gifts or dropped them off at the nearest hub by December 12. All adoption applications must be filled out by November 25th. More information on adopting and other ways to help can be found at their website.

And of course you can always donate food to your local food bank. Many young people out of school for holiday break will be missing the everyday meal they receive. By donating at a food bank, you can help ensure a child’s meal.
