STAAR/EOC testing for US History, Algebra 1 and Biology students will be held on May 3 and 4, 2022, with late arrival for non-testing students and some other updates. Let’s get into it.

Testing Schedule

The normal Even-Odd schedule will be followed for the week of May 2-6, except for the adjustments on May 3 and May 4 as noted below. This means May 2 is an Even Day, May 3 is a testing day with Odd Day classes, May 4 is a testing day with Even Day classes, May 5 is an Odd Day, and May 6 is an Even Day.

May 3, 2022 is the testing day for both US History (mostly 11th graders) and Algebra 1 (mostly 9th graders). Testing students should arrive at 8:30 a.m to their testing rooms. (Testing rooms will be posted in this story when they’re finalized). May 4, 2022 is the testing day for Biology (mostly 9th graders).

Testing is expected to be conducted from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each testing day (May 3 and 4). Late arrival for non-testing students will be at 11:45 a.m. when students should go directly to their 3rd Period class on May 3, or their 2nd Period class on May 4. 1st and 8th period will not meet on May 3 or 4.

On the May 3 testing date (US History and Algebra 1), the schedule looks like this:

Testing Time: 8:30 a.m. to around 1:00 p.m.

Non-testing:
Arrival to 3rd Period 11:45 a.m. to around 1:05 p.m. (Dismissal from this period will be announced over the PA once testing rooms are clear)

5th Period: Roughly 1:10 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

7th Period: 2:35 p.m. to 4 p.m.

On the May 4 testing date (Biology), the schedule looks like this:

Testing Time: 8:30 a.m. to around 1:00 p.m.

Non-testing:
Arrival to 2nd Period 11:45 a.m. to around 1:05 p.m. (Dismissal from this period will be announced over the PA once testing rooms are clear)

4th Period: Roughly 1:10 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

6th Period: 2:35 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Again, 1st and 8th period will not meet on May 3 or 4. KCAL will also not have class on testing days and will need to report to the Fine Arts Center during their scheduled class time.

General Reminders about Testing

MOST students will be using Chromebooks for testing. PLEASE remember to bring your updated Chromebook to the testing room. There will be Chromebook carts in the hallways for backups, but please remember yours. Please. Thanks.

Also, update your Chromebook by turning it all the way off, then all the way back on as soon as possible. Make sure it’s full charged before coming for testing.

Use the following link to access STAAR online practice tests: https://www.texasassessment.gov/practice-tests.html

All electronic devices (including smart watches, cell phones, headphones, etc.) will be taken up by testing proctors before beginning the tests. They will not be released back to students until an announcement is made to proctors.

No blankets, no hoods up. Thanks.

The Official Testing Letter

By the way, all this information has been shared to your Keller ISD e-mails, too, via the letter below. We’re reprinting it here because it’s easy to have all the stuff together.

April 23, 2022
Dear Falcon Parents and Students,
The USH and Algebra I EOC’s will take place on May 3rd, and the Biology EOC will be on May 4th. Passing these EOC Exams is a requirement for high school graduation, so we take this very seriously. Non testing students will have a late arrival time of 11:45a.m. and will report to their 3rd period class on May 3rd, or 2nd period class on May 4th. Sack lunches will be available for students to grab on the way to class if they do not eat before arriving.

Next year TEA is moving all state assessments to an online format. Keller ISD will administer May STAAR EOC Exams this school year online, unless a student’s §504, IEP or LEP documentation indicates a paper assessment is required. All students are required to bring their charged Chromebook to school on their respective STAAR EOC Exam days. Use this link to access STAAR online practice tests: https://www.texasassessment.gov/practice-tests.html

The technology department has recommended that all students update their Chromebooks prior to taking the online EOC. The instructions are attached to this email. (Editor’s Note: Actually, they’re above in the video.)

The STAAR EOC USH, Algebra I and Biology exams have a time limit of 4 hours. Students will be eating lunch in their test centers, so they need to bring a sack lunch to school for their testing day. Testing students will receive a sack lunch from the cafeteria if they do not bring one. No outside deliveries will be accepted.

Testing will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. Students will have a specific room assigned for testing and will stay in that room to test and eat lunch. Students will return to class upon the completion of testing. Buses will run on a normal schedule. KCAL will not have classes on May 3rd or 4th. KCAL students should report to the FAC if they arrive at the regular time and are not testing.

As always, students who are testing are expected to be well-rested, arrive on time, and be mentally prepared for testing. Testing room assignments will be posted on the Timber Creek Talon website (Editor’s Note: Hey, that’s us! Check above!), emailed home, and posted at the main entrances to the building. Please find your student’s testing room prior to the morning of testing.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have questions.
