The Queen of England, Elizabeth II, has died at Balmoral according to Buckingham palace. The monarch’s reign that has spanned seven decades has now come to an end. Her son, Prince Charles has now become King.

“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow,” stated the royal family on their Twitter page.

Elizabeth’s health had concerend doctors hours before her death on Thurday. The Queen’s reign began in 1952 and she has been the longest reigning monarch over England. Her power spaned the United Kingdom and 14 commonwealths.

Camila, Dutchess of Cornwell is now Queen Consort and Prince William is now heir apparent. Elizabeth’s four children were with her in her final moments.
