On Tuesday, October 26th, the Varsity Volleyball team defeated Fossil Ridge high school in a perfect sweep of 3 consecutive sets. This game was the final game of the regular season, and senior night for the five graduating seniors.

The first set was a dominant showing for the Falcons, as they had no problems stepping over the Panthers 25 to 13. The second set was also a good showing for the Falcons, who won 25 to 17.

At this point, momentum was high for the ladies in purple and gold. They were just one set away from victory, and the crowd was roaring with chants.

The third set was far more riveting for the Falcons. The Panthers were trailing the Falcons by just 3 points halfway into the set. Up 18 to 15, Senior Halle Sherlock got injured with a nosebleed and the game was halted. It wouldn’t take her long to get back into the swing of the things, as Sherlock jumped back right into the game and would have multiple touches to finish out the round. The Falcons would be up 24 to 21, when a missed hit by Fossil Ridge would push Timber Creek over the mark. The Falcons won their third consecutive set, and in three sets won the game. The student section would run onto the side of the court with brooms, and begin tauntingly sweeping the court.

For senior Megan Rosen, this game prepares the falcons for the playoffs next week.

“This is a really big win for us. We came out with high energy, and we were ready to fight the battle. We wanted to come back from last time we faced Fossil Ridge, so this time we wanted to come with our cutthroat attitude. We came out on top with the big “three set sweep” and had a lot of energy. This is a good way for us going into the playoffs so we are super excited to have this good positive mindset.” said Rosen.

As for senior Halle Sherlock, the milestone of her last home game at Timber Creek means a great deal.

“It’s just really great to end on such a high note for our team with a sweep like this. It is also great for us to have this momentum going into playoffs next week.”

Concurring with Sherlock, senior Annika Barker is grateful for the momentum boosting win.

“We’re riding the wave of energy and I think since we beat Boswell before we’re going to beat them again”

This senior night was one for the books, and showed that the future looks bright for the Falcons. Head coach Melanie Mercer is going into her third year at Timber Creek, and has a close connection this graduating group of seniors.

“I’m so proud of our seniors, they came out and they fought hard. This season has been really amazing, and our girls are working hard together. We’re getting in our groove, and I can’t wait to beat Boswell” said Mercer.

The Falcons have clinched the playoffs and will take on Boswell High School on Tuesday, November 2nd. The official time and locations will be announced on Friday November 29th. The team is looking forward to the playoffs, and is looking forward to the future!
