Timber Creek’s High School’s 4-star running back Emeka Megwa has officially reclassified to the class of 2021, and will be leaving high school early to play football for the University of Washington this Season. Classes start next Wednesday for the University of Washington, and Megwa looks to be in attendance. Although when he will be officially laced up in purple and gold attire is unknown to him, he does likely expect to play this season for the Huskies.

Emeka did not play a snap for the Falcons throughout his high school career. He played for Nolan Catholic his first 3 years, and transferred back to Timber Creek in January 2021. Megwa was assumed to be the starting back for the Timber Creek offense this season; however, didn’t play a single snap for the Falcons due to recovery from an undisclosed injury.

Emeka leaves behind a legacy in the north Fort Worth area. Specifically for Timber Creek head football coach Marshall Williams, Megwa’s impact is greater than football.

“I’m really happy. Absolutely, you know. This decision that was made for him to do this is, there are a lot of things that go into it you know… he’s very special to me.” said Coach Williams.

“He came back to come play here. You know he’d grown up in this town, played at Trinity Springs and played KYA, and then was at Nolan Catholic,” Williams said. “When I got the call he came back here so really excited about him, and I’m really happy for him. He has his best football ahead of him.”

According to 247Sports composite rankings, Megwa is ranked the No. 16 athlete in the country among the Class of 2022, and the No. 47 overall player in the state. His commitment is one of the more notable commitments in recent Timber Creek history, with the last major signing being former Falcon wide receiver Erik Ezukanma committing to Texas Tech back in 2017.

Although the anticipation of Megwa is no more for the 1-3 Falcons, who are currently preparing for district play starting next week, the Falcons offense will likely continue to have Senior Alec Souimaniphanh as the starting back going into district play.

When asked if he had any farewell messages to anyone who got him to where he is at, Megwa said

“I just want to say thank you to everyone.”

The Falcons look to continue the momentum of their homecoming win into the beginning of district play, starting on October 1st. The Falcons take on Fossil Ridge High School, and TCHS is the away team. The game will be held at the Keller ISD athletic complex with kick-off at 7 p.m.
