The 2021 Timber Creek Chamber Choir continued its reign as champion at the 2021 Madrigal and Chamber Choir Festival, becoming the first choir in 21 years to win the contest twice in a row, back to back.

“In 2019, TCHS founded its first ever Chamber Choir,” Head Choir Director Adrian Kirtley explained in an e-mail. “That same year [the choir] became the first choir ever to win 1st place at the Madrigal and Chamber Contest in its inaugural year, and the first DFW High School to win the contest since 2008.”

For the contest, if a choir wins in one year, they will serve as the “honor choir” for the following year and hold a concert while other choirs compete. In 2020, the TCHS Chamber Choir held their honor choir concert one week before COVID-19 shut down the school year.

“We were back up to compete this year, and it’s been a particularly trying year to put together a competition package but the students wanted to hold on to their title,” Kirtley said.
