An estimated 57.3% of all Texas registered voters have cast a ballot so far, – but some might be wondering if they can change that vote, according to Google Trends. Google searches of the phrase “can I change my vote” peaked on Oct. 27 in the U.S.

“Strongly Trending (Google) since immediately after the second debate is CAN I CHANGE MY VOTE? This refers changing it to me. The answer in most states is YES. Go do it. Most important Election of your life!” President Trump tweeted on Oct. 27.

However, in the majority of states, this is untrue. Specifically for readers in Texas, this isn’t possible. An approximate 12 states have laws that allow for changing of a vote, with majority being in “special occasions.” In New Hampshire, where you can change if the ballot has not been processed, if a voter has submitted an absentee ballot but gets to the polls on Election Day before that ballot is processed, he or she can replace the absentee vote.

Unfortunately for Texans, “Once a voter has submitted their ballot, they have voted. They cannot change their vote,” Stephen Chang, spokesman for the secretary of state, told ABC.
