The Mr. Falcon Pageant is less than a week away, contestants have been preparing for this huge senior event since October. The ladies and gentlemen of this event will be raising money for the Operation Smile foundation. The pageant will be held on Feb. 7 in the Fine Arts Center.

Doors will open at 6:45 p.m. the night of the event, and the contest will start at 7 p.m. Tickets for the event are $5, and can be purchased from any of the contestants or ambassadors. So that other students may spot them, the ladies and gentlemen involved in Mr. Falcon will carry around buckets the week of the event to collect donations and sell tickets. Tickets may also be purchased at the door, but have been known to sell out rather quickly.

All proceeds raised will go to Operation Smile which is an organization that grants children facial reconstruction surgeries to fix cleft lip and cleft palate abnormalities. The contestant to raise the most money for Operation Smile will win “Falcon Favorite” and “Miss Congeniality” and will receive a free prom ticket. While the senior contestant who wins the competition will receive a free tux rental from Men’s Warehouse for prom, and a free prom ticket.

The competing senior boys are partnered with senior ladies, known as ambassadors. The ambassadors’ job is to hype up the crowd, and make the contestant they are partnered with excel in each category the boys are competing in. As an introduction into the night’s events, the pairs will do a handshake or a little dance to greet the audience.

Besides prom and graduation, Mr. Falcon is the biggest senior event of the year. It is a comedic event where nominated senior boys perform in three rounds of competition to resemble a real ‘beauty’ pageant. The three rounds are evening wear, athletic wear, and talent.

During the evening wear portion of the show, the contestants will be dressed to the best in suits and tuxes with their ambassadors on their arms. For the athletic wear event, the contestants have the freedom to wear any outfit that represents a hobby in their life or something they like. Finally, for the talent portion, anything goes. The contestants will be able to perform anything from dance routines to stand up comedy.
