On Thursday, Oct. 17, Timber Creek overcame their rival Byron Nelson in an intense away battle. The affair ended 41-28 in favor of the Falcons.

A rocky start to the game saw Creek give up a receiving touchdown in the opening drive. The tide completely turned after an interception by Defensive Back Jerami Cook. Unfortunately, Quarterback Jason Akers and the Falcon offense could not muster up a touchdown to tie the game, however, a Carlo Martinez Field Goal provided the Falcons with their first points of the game.

On Byron’s next possession, the Falcon’s defense came up big, forcing the Bobcats offense to punt. The punt was blocked by defensive linemen, Mike Sandjo. Man of the game, Jerami Cook then made one of the best plays of the year as the defender caught a 31-yard throw by Akers that gave the Falcons the lead before the second quarter. Following a cold streak by both teams to start the second quarter, Timber was able to breakthrough first, taking a two possession lead with a rushing touchdown by Kaden Bess. With the score at 17 to 7 in favor of Timber, Byron Nelson got the final possession of the half, and took advantage of it, marching down the field for a touchdown.

The Falcons ran away with the game in the second half and Creek’s offense exploded for 24 points, beating Byron by two possessions. 41-28 was the highest margin of victory for the Falcons all season. While Timber Creek improved to 2-5, Byron Nelson fell to an abysmal 0-7.

The Falcons take on District rival Fossil Ridge as the home team at Keller ISD Friday, Oct. 25. The game will be available live on TCFM and on video replay on Sports Network.
