Falcon Theatre will be performing William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet this October; however, the play will have a different twist to it. Timber Creek Falcons will be playing characters from the House of Montague, while Central Chargers will be playing characters from the House of Capulets.

The play will show on Oct. 10-12 at 7 p.m. and on Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. at Central High School’s Fine Art Center. Tickets will be $5 for students and $10 for adults. The FAC will be split in half, with a purple and maroon red carpet.

“Romeo and Juliet will have three rehearsals together,” theater director Lance Morse said.

The two schools will be manning their own costumes and props. Central is handling set and both schools will work with the lighting. Morse is going in between schools and teaching fight choreography and stage combat to make sure both schools are learning and practicing the same way. Both Central and Timber Creek will meet for the first time at the first dress rehearsal.

“I have wanted to perform the show in this way for about 10 years,” Morse said.

Once he pitched the idea to one of the Central directors, they loved it and jump started the play. The Timber Creek and Central Theatre departments worked together to make the script adaptation and schedule.

“I mentioned it to one of the Central Directors last Fall, and he loved the idea,” Morse said. “It all snowballed from there.”

Students in Montague will wear purple and the Capulets will be wearing maroon to support their houses. Characters who are not a part of the rivaling families will wear gold to unify both of the houses.

“We have worked together on the schedule and the script adaptation throughout the summer,” Morse said.

Students are very excited for this very new and different performance with Central.
