According to the Duncanville ISD Website, tickets will cost $15.00 for attendees age 12 and older, and $7.00 for ages 6 through 11 and senior citizens. Children under 6 will be granted free admission. The tickets will be valid for preliminary and finals performances.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, the band competed in Midland, TX at the West Texas Regional Championship. In preliminary, the band placed third overall in their ranking, causing few to question how well they would do for finals.

“After placing, I was like ‘that might be okay but I know we can do better,'” sophomore Ishita Raval stated. “It definitely pushed me to work harder and push through for finals.”

In finals, the band placed second overall in the competition with a score of 84.075, moving up a place from their preliminary standing. Last year the band won the regional competition, but placing highly next to the winning band from Vista Ridge, who holds the title of last year’s state champion, was still a really good feeling.

“I know Vista Ridge is really good and making only three points [away] was a really big thing,” Raval said.

Two weeks ago in Bedford, TX the band went to their first Bands of America show of the season. Out of the 31 bands, the band placed 9th overall with a score of 75.05 in finals, tying with our neighboring school, Keller Central.

“[I was] disappointed because we were 6th in prelims,” junior leader Clementine Beia said. “I guess the other judges just didn’t think the same way as the performance before.”
