Varsity tennis has had an exceptional season so far this year. After winning against Byron Nelson on Tuesday, Sept. 17, varsity moved on to a 4-0 record in district matches. This ties them for first in the district with Southlake Carroll.

Support tennis as they create history this season in their next match on Tuesday Sept. 24 vs. Fossil Ridge at home. So far in the season, tennis has had astonishing victories, such as beating Keller High School for the first time in school history.

“It was the first time we’ve ever beaten Keller in school history. In fact, it was the first time Keller High School lost to any of the other Keller ISD schools,” tennis coach Roger Thomas said.

The win over Keller created pure elation within the team, as Keller has been a powerhouse in the district for many years. Overcoming the crosstown rivals has brought a new stronger confidence for the squad. But the unbreakable bonds between teammates is what has helped the team tremendously during tough matches.

“[Winning against Keller] was an amazing feeling, especially as a senior, because our team works really hard,” varsity tennis captain Monica Mendoza said. “I’m really excited to see how the rest of the season goes.”
