Interested in traveling to Ecuador this summer? An informational meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. in room S115 for those who’d like to learn more about the trip.
At the meeting, hopeful attendees will decide if the the trip will be to the mainland, where trip-goers will visit the Andes Mountains and Amazon Rainforest, or if they will visit the mainland then continue on to the Galapagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador. Teachers Trishla Shah, Mike Otto, and Adriana Vasquez are behind the summer excursion. The trip will take place from May 27 to June 3, 2020.
“The Galapagos Islands are pretty pure and untouched,” Shah said. “The ecotourism there is awesome. They’re known for huge turtles.”
Going to Ecuador is sure to be an educational experience, full of rich culture and beautiful landmarks.
“It’s an opportunity to be able to learn a little bit about South American culture, to learn about people and groups in the Andes and the Amazon, and to maybe put some of their Spanish in practice,” Shah said.
The tour price includes round-trip airfare from Dallas to Ecuador and back, ground transportation, eight days and seven nights of hotel accommodations, and various tours of sites in Ecuador with a bi-lingual tour guide.
“It’s a fun time, it’s a great experience. Ecuador is a cool place that doesn’t get as much recognition,” Shah said. “It’s right on the equator so it has tropical weather no matter what time of year you go.”
