The annual Mr. Falcon Pageant will take place on Friday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $5 from any of the male contestants, female escorts, or in room M106.

Mr. Falcon is a comedic event where chosen senior boys perform in 3 rounds to resemble a real pageant: evening wear, athletic wear, and talent. During the evening wear portion of the show, the contestants will be dressed to the nines in suits and tuxes. For the athletic wear event, the contestants have the freedom to wear an outfit that represents a hobby in their life. Finally, for the talent portion, anything goes. The contestants will be able to perform anything from lip sync battles to gymnastics routines.

Since Tuesday, Jan. 22, all the contestants have not only been selling tickets, but they have also been carrying their donation boxes to raise money for the Smile Train Foundation, which is an organization that grants children facial reconstruction surgeries to fix cleft lip and cleft palate abnormalities. The contestant to raise the most money for Smile Train will win “Falcon Favorite” and receive a free prom ticket. Brandon Anguiano, like many of the other contestants, is excited to not only perform, but to try to raise the most money for a good cause.

“It’s such an amazing foundation to get to raise money for,” Anguiano said. “The more I look into it, the more motivation I get to raise money for the cause.”

All the contestants have been preparing for months in hopes of gaining the title of “Mr. Falcon.” In October, teachers sent in their suggestions for possible contestants that they thought would be charismatic and funny on stage. From there, the senior class officers and their sponsor, Emily Boehringer, contacted the boys to see if they would be willing to participate. This year, there are 18 contestants, all from various organizations in the school such as football, band, theater, choir, and cross country.

“The past two years, Mr. Falcon has been the boys’ favorite high school memory,” said Boehringer. “This year, we prepared them earlier than in years past so I have high expectations that they will surpass the past years in comedy, talent, and swag.”
