In the 2019-2020 school year, Timber Creek will have a new Algebra 2 class provided by the University of Texas at Austin OnRamps program. This will be available to all students who have taken and passed Algebra 1 and Geometry. The course is college level, and will require a significant amount of dedication and time, much more than Pre-AP or on level Algebra 2.

“The rigor is college level and there is minimal use of a calculator, so it is recommended only for strong math students who are willing to work hard,” said math teacher, Shawna Anzaldua.

This course is completely free, and students who pass with a C will receive college credit. The credit received will be transferable to any college in the sate of Texas, but out of state schools may vary. For students in the class of 2020 or 2021, the course will bear no weight on their GPA, but for the class of 2022 it is weighted the same as Pre-AP.

“It is a great opportunity to experience college rigor and earn college credit,” said Anzaldua. “Make sure you have a strong Algebra and Geometry foundation, and are ready to work hard.”
