Falcon Theatre is holding auditions for the Spring shows this Wednesday, Jan. 9, with technician interviews on Friday, Jan. 11. Auditions will be held in the Black Box, FA 116. Actors and technicians can go out for “The Lost Boy”, this year’s UIL One-Act play, and “Treasure Island”, this year’s spring show.
Actors should prepare two contrasting monologues, one in dialect, in 90 seconds or less. Technicians should prepare a collage of images that represent the script and mood of the play and be ready to discuss why they would be a good company member. Copies of the scripts for both plays can be requested in Mr. Robertson’s room, FA 116.
Both aspiring technicians and actors need to fill out an audition packet, found on the call board in the FA hall, and bring it with them to auditions. More information, including rehearsal and performance dates, can be found in the packet.
Robert Gabriel Paolillo’s drama “The Lost Boy” tackles difficult family matters against the backdrop of the creation of Neverland and the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up. James M. Barrie returns to his hometown in Scotland, dissatisfied with his work and home life. He confronts his mother, who still holds him responsible for the death of James’ brother, which happened when James was only six. His road to reconciliation and healing is intertwined with his creation of Neverland and the characters that are still beloved today.
Bryony Lavery’s gripping retelling of Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Treasure Island” is the other show Falcon Theatre is producing this spring. According to publisher Dramatists: “It’s a dark, stormy night. The stars are out. Jim, the innkeeper’s granddaughter, opens the door to a terrifying stranger. At the old sailor’s feet sits a huge sea-chest, full of secrets. Jim invites him in—and her dangerous voyage begins.”
