Riding with pride is Timber Creek’s Rodeo Club, a family of equestrians. Rodeo Club is for people interested in rodeo and horses, to learn and be around like minded people, according to junior and club member, Bethany Reske.

President Sarah Looper has been the leader of rodeo club for the past four years, this year being her fifth. Although she graduated with the class of 2017, Looper continues to lead and play a large role in the team she helped build.

“My goal is to see the team grow,” Looper explained. “I’ve been a part of it so long and it went from seven kids to almost 20.”

Unlike other clubs at the school, Rodeo Club is not a school sponsored organization, which means they are entirely self-sufficient, and are saddled with the responsibility of funding themselves.

“Our biggest fundraiser are sonic cards,” Looper mentioned. “They sell like crazy every year.”

Students from any Keller ISD high school, or are in the eighth grade at any Keller ISD middle school, are welcome to join the club, regardless if they have a horse or not. This year Rodeo Club holds practices every Thursday night at the Keller Horse Arena in the Keller Sports Park.

“We just hang out, ride horses and have fun,” Looper said.

Along with competitions, Rodeo Club also participates in events such as the homecoming parade and Fort Worth Stock show. By the end of each school year, members share many great memories and moments to cherish and celebrate.

“At the end of the school year we host a banquet for the team,” Looper explained. “Seniors get special gifts from the underclassman and everyone gets [belt] buckles.”

Growing from a small group of friends with a common interest into a group that is a force to be reckoned with, Rodeo Club has made its impact on its members throughout the school.

“We’re all just like one big happy family,” said Looper fondly.
