Falcon Football had another game full of delays as they traveled to West Mesquite on Sept. 14, 2018.

The Falcons got off to a positive early start with Blake Irving running a TD on the opening drive. Then the lightning came.

After about an hour of delay, play resumed and West Mesquite answered back with the Wranglers tying up the game 7-7 midway through the 1st quarter.

An end zone catch by Nicolas Fabiola gave TC the lead once again and the Falcons closed out the first quarter 14-7 over West Mesquite.

QB Jason Akers added to the Timber Creek touchdowns early in the 2nd quarter, but the team failed a two point conversion.

But West Mesquite was right there with them, running back a kickoff, rushing for a touchdown and recovering a fumble to go over the Falcons 28-27 headed into halftime.

After the half, West Mesquite opened with a touchdown to extend to 35 points — but Timber had two tricks, as Nate Monticure made the TD and Max Arnold caught a two point conversion to tie the game up again, finishing the third quarter 35-35.

That would be the last time the teams were that close, as West Mesquite put up two touchdowns (but no PATs) before Timber could answer with a touchdown catch by Justin Haler late in the 4th to get the score to 47-42.

West Mesquite would score the final touchdown of the game with a long rushing play to put the final score 54-42.

Timber Creek heads into a Bye week this week and returns for varsity football action for their first district game against Eaton High School on Thursday, Sept. 27.
