With their 2018 season starting with a scrimmage on Jan. 2 against Marcus High School and held at Marcus High School, the women’s soccer team has been looking towards another promising season.

Having made it to the final rounds of the season the previous year, the players hope to make it back this year, carrying on their tradition of making playoffs for the eighth year in a row.

With their next varsity game against Martin High School on Jan. 19 at 6:00 p.m., Coach Michael King expects the team to succeed even in the pre-season, having trained the team to play a physical and strong style.

“[Making playoffs and performing well is] an expectation, not a goal,” said Coach Michael King. “We typically don’t set goals.  We consider our season a process.  Our season is a series of steps we take to achieve what every team desires, a state championship.”

Focusing on attacking with speed and transition all throughout defense and offense, King is looking forward to seeing the team grow, playing with a young but strong squad with a few move-ins within a couple of spots on the team.

“We are a very fluid program,” said King.  “Many of our athletes from the freshman and JV team can help us at any time.  We have a tradition of making the playoff every year.  My hope is to make a strong and long run this year.”
