Timber Creek students and staff can cast their vote for December’s Teacher of the Month.

November’s Teacher of the Month, Emily Boehringer, was honored in early November.

October’s Teacher of the Month, Stacey Cleveland, was honored in early October by Principal Donnie Bartlett and other administrators.

The following teachers have been nominated by their department heads as examples of great educators at TCHS. Read the descriptions and vote below:

CTE
Andre Dean represents our CTE Department well and is usually the first one to volunteer when anything is needed whether a committee or just to lend a hand. He has been an advocate for Project Lead the Way and the Engineering Program for many years in KISD, but many days you can find him in the courtyard with students testing their robotics or rockets or other projects. He has been on several District Advisory boards in the past, chaired a PLTW Advisory Board at TCHS and currently is on the District CTE CTSO sub-committee. He is definitely one of the most friendly and genuine teachers at TCHS and we are honored to have him on our CTE team!

English
Lonnie Judd is the best teacher/coach I’ve EVER had the pleasure of working with at ANY campus.  He truly is a teacher first; he cares about his students and prepares them well for whatever post-secondary path they choose.  He also works diligently with other teachers if any of his athletes are less than the students they should be.  On a side note, his classes always do well when we’re collecting money to help others—that is, at least in part, because he sets such a good example of a generous person.

Fine Arts
Adrian Kirtley is a true inspiration to students and his joy of teaching shines through in everything he does.

Math
Terry Clarkson leads our geometry team.  She is an innovative teacher and leads her team with enthusiasm.

Science
Craig Arkfeld is always willing to go above and beyond for his students.  He has great passion about the environment and extends this in his teaching.  His classes are fun, insightful, and students become better aware about environmental issues facing this generation.  He is always a team player in the department as well as serving on the AVID site team.  He has also sponsored TC’s Earth Warrior club.

Social Studies
Ben Metcalf’s passion for teaching and connecting with students is tangible. He is always finding fun ways to bring the historical content to life for his students. This month he took a number of students to the Southlake Barnes and Noble and created and Enlightenment Salon. The students showed up dressed as eighteenth century characters and drank in great conversation and coffee. He also has started a History Club here at TCHS which continues to foster a love of learning in our students.

Special Education
Kim Vehar-Noyes has a real heart for helping struggling students.  She works hard to make English accessible and fun for her kids.  She is always looking for new strategies and new materials that her students might enjoy.  Kim shares this information with other teachers so that we can all help our kids become better readers and writers.  We are lucky to have her on our team.

World Languages
Dorothy McFarland leads the French club and provides relevant cultural activities for the kids. She has a passion for French and shares that enthusiasm with her students.
