Basketball season is swishing into gear as the girls and guys teams get ready for the year.

Many of the players have been working on their individual skills in the off-season, but starting the last week of October players endured 3 hours of practice every day. An average day for the varsity teams includes starting each morning with an hour of shooting practice and ending the afternoon with two hours of vigorous drills to bring their skills to the court.

“We have confidence in each other on the court to make shots, make good passes, handle the ball, etc,” says varsity player Alec Tribble.

Along with techniques and drills, team work also plays a large role in the game. Many of the members have worked together since their first year of high school building both their skills and their friendships on and off the court.

“We’ve definitely become close as a team this year,” says Winston Castlemain. “Our chemistry on the court is so good because of our friendships off the court. We have each other’s backs.”

Although they lost their Nov. 15 game against Byron Nelson, with the final score being 39 to 35, the team is ready to come back stronger than before. Watch a replay of the varsity boys’ game at this link: http://www.nfhsnetwork.com/events/timber-creek-high-school-fort-worth-tx/9606b68ec0

“We’ve put in many hours of hard work to prepare for this upcoming season,” says Castlemain. “We feel like we have unlimited potential this year.”

Timber Creek Sports Network to Stream 12 Live Basketball Games

Timber Creek Sports Network is moving into the basketball season with an increased number of games and a higher quality presentation for the 2016-17 season.

TCSN will stream 12 live varsity girls and boys basketball games on six nights from November to February — four more broadcasts than last year.

“Basketball was a big success for our inaugural season,” Sports Net advisor Greg Janda said. “With our experienced broadcasters returning to the court to stream even more games this season, we think Basketball will be the premiere production for our network.”

Both girls and boys varsity games will be available on each of the following nights:

Tuesday, Nov. 15 – Varsity Guys and Girls vs. Byron Nelson (Home Opener)

Additional live links will be provided closer to broadcast date, but all streams are available from the NFHS Network page for Timber Creek: http://www.nfhsnetwork.com/schools/timber-creek-high-school-fort-worth-tx

Tuesday, Jan. 3 – Varsity Guys and Girls vs. Weatherford

Tuesday, Jan. 17 – Varsity Guys and Girls vs. Keller

Tuesday, Jan. 31 – Varsity Guys and Girls vs. Abilene

Tuesday, Feb. 7 – Varsity Guys and Girls vs. Fossil Ridge

One additional night of basketball coverage is to be determined.

New this season, many of the games will be simulcast on TCFM, the new student-run radio station.

“This gives our announcers a lot of experience calling for radio and television, and finding some of the differences between how both mediums can be used,” Janda said.

In the 2016-17 season, viewers will need to purchase a plan through the NFHS Network to watch streams live. Pricing details are available at this link: NFHS Network Streaming Plans.

A portion of the proceeds for NFHS Network plans goes to fund Timber Creek Student Media.

Timber Creek Live broadcasts will be scheduled to contain around 4 games per sport, all within the same calendar month when possible. This should allow viewers to purchase the $9.99 Month-long NFHS Network streaming plan and view multiple games within the period.

In addition, games for covered sports will be available to watch for FREE 72 hours after the end of the event.

Simulcast games on TCFM will be free to all listeners.
