Homecoming season is rolling around and it sure can be expensive if you aren’t prepared. Here’s some tips and tricks for doing Homecoming on a budget.
First off, find a homecoming date or decide that you want to go with friends. Whatever choice you choose is the right one. You will have fun either way. A homecoming dance ticket costs $15 and go on sale Sept. 5. The tickets are $20 at the door. The homecoming dance is on Sept. 17 and the theme is “Timber’s Got Game.”
Finding homecoming attire is the next thing. For girls, a homecoming dress can range from $20 to about $150. For cheaper dresses that don’t compromise quality, go to Windsor or L’Patricia in Southlake or Grapevine.
For boys, homecoming semi-formal attire is expected. JCPenny and other major retail stores sell dress pants and shirts at a cheaper price during homecoming season due to the demand of items.
Homecoming mums and garters are the next thing to tackle. Homecoming mums can cost an upwards of $100 if professionally made. Homecoming garters can cost an upwards of $50 if professionally made. Making your own is slightly cheaper than getting one professionally made. If you have a friend or older sibling that has a mum that they aren’t using and don’t really care about anymore, reuse and recycle what they have. You can go to Spotlight Mums on Alta Vista or C&C Floral Events in Colleyville for mums professionally made. You can go to Hobby Lobby in Alliance Town Center or Michaels on 377 for items to make your own mums. Spotlight Mums also sells items to make your own mum. Michaels always has some sort of coupon for something on their website or in their flyer so be sure to check that out.
The homecoming game is Sept 15. Homecoming game tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students if bought ahead of time during lunches at the Bird House or before and after school. All tickets will be $8 at the gate.
Timber Creek will be facing off against Denton. Go to the homecoming game to support our Falcon Football, cheerleaders, band members, color guard and Sky Dancers.
