This past Friday, Aug. 26, your Timber Creek Falcons won the first game of the season against Irving Nimitz, 49 to 48.

Through the first half both offense and defense played very strongly coming out on top at the end of the second quarter, 20-15.

Coming out of halftime defense held Nimitz and made them punt, but a fumble by the offense allowed the home team to score and pull ahead. Shortly after, Erik Ezukanma caught a long pass thrown by Cade Schrader and scored to make the score 27-23 with Timber on top.

Most of the game went back and forth so there was no clear winner until Irving Nimitz offense couldn’t connect on the two-point conversion with under 30 seconds in the fourth quarter.

While in the past many said that defense was the better half of the Timber Creek program, this year it seems that with players like Cade Schrader, and Erik Ezukanma (who were both nominated for player of the week by many different organizations) that offense could be the ones stepping into the spotlight.

Even though it was a close win, it is still a win. Your Falcons are 1-0 starting the season so come cheer them on and get them to 2-0 this week when they play away in Azle.

You will not be disappointed while watching the new air-raid style offense led by Cade Schrader who last week threw for a record breaking 421 yards and four touchdowns.
