The Timber Creek Choir department made history at the annual UIL Concert and Sight-reading competition Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Central High school, returning with 5 Sweepstakes trophies.

The JV Men’s Choir earned a Division 1, the most superior rating available, for the first time in the department, along with both of our Varsity Treble choirs, Varsity Men and Varsity Mixed, to whom the success was no surprise.

Timber’s choirs began strenuous preparation for UIL in January, learning challenging music and practicing sight reading every class.

“We are super proud of these students and their hard work and dedication,” said Choir Director Amy Fambrough. Students competed with music of the most difficult variety, including some in tough languages like Latin.

“The music was definitely hard, but we all fell in love with it immediately,” exclaimed Aspen Davis, a junior in the Varsity Mixed choir. “Competing is such a rewarding experience and it makes all the hard work worth it,” she described.

The choirs will now begin preparation for a Spring Concert, which will take place on May 19 in the Fine Arts Center at 7 p.m. It is open to the public, so come see what our acclaimed choirs look like in action.
