A Timber Creek senior football player will be among seven collegiate and 66 high school scholar-athletes that will be honored by the National Football Foundation Gridiron Club of Dallas.

The chapter’s Eighth Annual Awards Banquet will be held on April 10, 2016 at the Dallas/Addison Marriot Quorum by the Galleria. This year, Jonathan Casillas, a senior football player was invited to be honored at the banquet.

A number of scholarships will be awarded, and one high school player will be named the club’s top scholar-athlete. This event will feature new University of North Texas head football coach Seth Littrell as the keynote speaker and award-winning sportscaster Scott Murry as the evening’s emcee.

“We are incredibly proud of this year’s scholar-athletes,” Gerald Brence, President of the NFF Gridiron Club of Dallas chapter said. “In the eighth year of our chapter, we are honoring a record number of athletes. It is always an honor to meet these young men that not only excel in the classroom, but those also involved in there community.”

Selected from a pool of candidates that cover the entire region, the committee — comprised of coaches, teachers, and administrators — evaluated the athletes based on their athletic accomplishments, academic performance and leadership in the community.
