All students enrolled in a TCHS art class must compete in at least one art competition by the end of the year. As the end of the year draws near, many students have yet to complete this. For student convenience, here are some local art competitions welcoming entries.
The 2016 Weatherford Art Association (WAA) Photography Show and Sale – The competition is being held May 9-June 3 at the Firehouse Art Gallery in Weatherford, TX. Registration is May 5, 6, and 7. There is an entry fee of $10 for members, and $15 for non-members. Each artist is limited to three art submissions. 2016 Bosque Art Classic – Open to all artists who create realistic/representational art. Categories include: drawing, oil/acrylic, pastel, sculpture, water media, and mixed media. Awards are given in each category, as well as some cash awards. The entry deadline is May 23, and it will be held September 10-24. Celebrate Art in Mineral Wells – Booth applications are available for artists to showcase their art at no cost. The event will be held May 21 around the Old Post Office Building in downtown Mineral Wells. Join other artists and art enthusiasts to browse through works submitted, as well as taste the local food and Celebrate Art in Mineral Wells. 2016 Betsy Price: Citywide High School Art Competition – A Fort Worth art competition in which the top three winning artists will receive monetary awards, $5,000 for first place, $3,000 for second place, and $1,000 for third place.
