Timber Creek is sending six wrestlers to the state competition after a great showing at regionals in El Paso.

Junior Rachel Bridges won the Regional Champ spot and is the most dominant wrestler in the state with a perfect 29-0 record. No opponent has yet to score a point on her all season, TCHS Wrestling Coach Craig Roark said. Bridges is the returning state champ and national champ.

Freshman Jaclyn Higgens placed fifth at regionals and will be a state alternate in the 148 lbs. weigh class.

“This Freshman is 35-11 and has had a great season!” Roark said. “She is a first year wrestler who has a chance to be very special!”

The boys team also scored well at regionals, bringing four male athletes to the state competition.

Senior Jamie Paterson was the regional runner up.

“This senior is a returning state placer who is 47-4 on the season and has a great shot at making some noise at the state tournament,” Roark said. Paterson beat the returning state champ, Wyatt Alvis, to put him on loser bracket at regionals.

Junior Austin Fox placed third at regionals and has a great shot a placing at the state tournament.

Chase Carter placed fourth at regionals. Roark said Carter is 43-15 and has had a great season.

Roderick Valentine will be a state alternate after placing fifth at regionals.
