Have you seen the live streams for the basketball games? Those are all student run broadcasts, put together by the Broadcast Journalism class who volunteer to be there. Broadcast teacher Mr. Janda and TCTV teacher Mr. Ison help set up all of the equipment used for the stream, and the rest is done by the students.
Students produce, film, run graphics, switch cameras, and announce the games. Broadcast journalism gives very good options for the future, as good live broadcasts in high school are not very common and are pretty complex. “Going to do live streams at the basketball games are my favorite,” said Paul Talamantes, a sophomore.
The fact that Timber Creek is doing live broadcasting is amazing, but this is not all they do. Broadcast also goes out to film and interview for news stories, along with that, they also edit their own videos. Senior Emily Gogle says “Broadcast is one of the few classes that I have that accurately prepares me for my future.”
