It was a very successful past weekend for all teams in the soccer program as they played in the Rex King Memorial tournament Jan. 7-9, 2016.

The Rex King Tournament was to raise money for the Community of Texas Hospice Home. After all of the money was counted, the Soccer program as a whole raised over $10,000 for the organization.

The TCHS soccer teams also competed well in the tournaments, finishing in top spots with many teams.

On the men’s side the Varsity team made it to the championship, but they lost in freezing temperature game to district rival Byron Nelson.

“It was a good tournament all around, we were able to showcase our team and the talent and potential this team has going forward this year,” varsity soccer head coach John Besancon said.

The JV team finished third playing their final game against Carter-Riverside. They won 4-3, with all 4 goals coming within the last 25 minutes of the game. The JV2 team finished sixth, with a score of 2-1 against Fossil Ridge.

On the Women’s side the Girls Varsity won the Consolation Championship 2-1 against Legacy after penalty kicks. The girls JV team lost in the Consolation Championship game 1-2 against Central. The JV2 team finished third with a 2-1 win against Fossil Ridge.
