Timber Creek Gives Back
Through donations to Toys for Tots, a Blood Drive, care packages for deployed soldiers, and more, Timber Creek High School has spent the weeks before the holiday season giving back to those in need. Find more details about the events and programs that students participated in below:
- Hope for the Holidays Raises Over $3,000

Winter Break Starts With Dec. 18 Early Release
The 2015 Winter Break will start with an early release day for TCHS on Dec. 18.
Students will attend all their A Day classes on that day starting at 8:30 a.m.
The 1st period runs 8:30 to 9:15 a.m., 2A runs from 9:20 to 10:05, 3A runs from 10:10 to 10:55, 4A runs from 11 to 11:45, and 5th runs from 11:50 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Students with 1st period off will need to attend their 2A class that starts at 9:20 a.m. — 5 minutes earlier than the standard 9:25 a.m. start time. If a student arrives to their 2A class later than 9:20 a.m. on Dec. 18, they may receive a tardy.
Students without 4th or 5th periods will be able to leave after their last scheduled class of the day. For instance, if a senior has a 4A class, but is off 5th period, they will be allowed to leave after 11:45 a.m. Those without a 4th and 5th period can leave after 10:55 a.m.
No lunches will be served during 3A period. Sack lunches are available for purchase in the cafeteria before school only.
All student are asked to leave campus quickly after school on Dec. 18 to enjoy their Winter Break. School resumes for students on Jan. 5, 2016.
Project Graduation
Timber Creek will be hosting Project Graduation for all seniors on May 28, 2016 (graduation day) from midnight to 6 a.m. The event will be held at Main Event in Presidio Junction.
The event will be an all night lock-in including; bowling, laser tag, video games, billiards, gravity ropes, karaoke, and door prizes (laptops, tablets, printers, TV’s, microwaves, gift cards, etc.) Food will be provided, including a pizza buffet, continental breakfast and unlimited beverages.
The concept behind Project Graduation began in the early 1980s when many students in Maine lost their lives due to alcohol-related car accidents associated with graduation parties. Concerned parents decided to take a stand against these incidents and begin the idea of project graduation. By the end of 1986, Texas alone hosted 200 successful alcohol- and chemical-free graduation celebrations.
Pre-register by Dec. 18, 2015 to receive the best deal and get entered to win a gift card valued at $100 — two of these prizes will be given away. Register by April 29, 2016 to get a T-shirt and raffle tickets for door prizes. The final day to register is May 15, 2016.

Fundraising Events for Project Graduation
Organizers are also offering Chick-Fil-A breakfast biscuits every Friday from 7:45 – 9:15 a.m. at the Fine Arts Concession stand.
The Senior Serve fundraiser is a major event designed to get Seniors involved in funding Project Graduation. The Senior Serve dinner will have groups of Senior class volunteers designing table decor, serving food, and showing off their talents.
To earn money seniors will form a group between two and eight people. From there, the groups will make a guests list and sell tickets to the Feb. 1, 2016 dinner. Once the guests arrive, those senior groups will be working for tips that night, serving as wait staff and other roles.
Each senior group’s goal is to create a table with a unique theme, decorate the tables, dress in a costume and provide a cake that all compliments the theme that was picked. The cake can be home made or store bought. The event begins with hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction while a panel of judges will select the top five cakes to be auctioned during a live auction. The auction is a bit of a competition for the groups, as students will receive varied number of raffle tickets depending on how they placed. The remaining cakes will then be served to guests after dinner.
Project Graduation prizes such as tablets, televisions, coffee makers and more can only be won with raffle tickets or as door prizes during the May 28, 2016 graduation day event. Every senior who attends Project Graduation gets one raffle ticket, but others can be earned through working Senior Serve and other activities and/or from pre-registering for the event by Dec. 18, 2015 to net five additional tickets.
During dinner, talented seniors will be performing as the entertainment for the night. Auditions will be held for entertainers filling such roles as musicians, dancers, actors or fun skits on Jan. 11, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. Dress rehearsal for everyone participating in Senior Serve will be held Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the cafeteria.
The actual event will be held Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 in the Timber Creek cafeteria. The set up for the night will be from 4 to 6 p.m., then the event begins at 6 p.m. and should run until 9 p.m. Clean up will be taken care of after until about 10 p.m.
Positions are available for babysitters, ticket sales, master/mistress of ceremonies, host/hostess, waiter/waitress, stage crew, talent, table decorations donations, dessert donations, silent auction donations and auctioneer. Further explanation of these roles will be explained at an information and commitment meeting on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. in the Lecture Hall for parents and seniors.
Seniors might ask, what’s in it for me? By participating in senior serve, they can receive volunteer hours, raffle tickets, scholarships and a night of memories with the class of 2016.
“Guys and Dolls” Runs Through Dec. 12

Timber Creek High School Theatre’s performances of the classic musical “Guys and Dolls” will be starting on Dec 10. running through Dec 12, 2015.
The times will be 7 p.m. Dec 10. through Dec 12. and a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Dec 12. The price is $10 for students and $12 for adults.
The musical features well-known tunes like “Luck be a Lady,” “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat,” “A Bushel and a Peck,” and the title track.

Book Fair Runs Dec. 14-18
Timber Creek’s book fair will be held Dec. 14-18, 2015, right before winter break.
It will be held in the library and opens at 7:45 a.m. and closes at 4:10 p.m. each day.
Teachers can schedule to bring down classes with Mrs. Abbott or can send students down in small groups.
Also, students can come on their own time such as lunches, passing periods, during off periods or before or after school.
Books can make good gifts, so if you would like to help someone beat winter break boredom just come down and buy a book.

Timber Creek Cheerleaders Bring Home Big Wins
Timber Creek Advanced Co-Ed Cheerleaders after winning Grand Champion in the NCA State of Texas Championships on Dec. 6, 2015.
Timber Creek Cheerleaders brought home some big wins.
On Sunday, Dec. 6, Timber Creek Cheer competed at the NCA State of Texas Championships.Advanced Co-Ed TC Cheer won Grand Champions, State Champions, and the Superior Showmanship award.
The Advanced Co-Ed Cheer Team beat out 27 other teams to take the top spot.
Intermediate TC JV Cheer won State Champions.
In the Game Day category, TC cheer won first runner up in fight song and fifth place with their time out cheer.
“Our Timber Creek cheerleaders competed with great grace under pressure and it paid off! They made Timber Creek and Keller ISD proud today!” Cheer coach Jaime Morgan said in an e-mail to the Talon.
