The Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) and Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) are teaming up to host an awards ceremony in honor of Timber Creek’s favorite teachers.

The event will be held on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, from 1-3 p.m. This will be a testing day during finals week, so students will have been released at 12:30 p.m. following testing.

Organizers said the banquet will not only to give awards to some of TCHS’ favorite teachers, but will also show appreciation for all of the teachers who work hard every day.

One way students can be involved in the banquet is by voting for their favorite TCHS teacher during lunches on Dec. 10 and 11. Students can text  TCHSTeacher, their Student ID, and the last name of a TCHS teacher to 37607. The results will be tallied by TAFE and FCCLA students and an award will be given to that teacher during the Jan. 14 banquet. Only one vote per Student ID will be counted.

Not only are teachers being awarded various awards, but there will be drawings with things like free massages, gift cards, etc., courtesy of the various businesses that are supporting the banquet.

A dessert bar will also be organized, all provided by TAFE, FCCLA, and even Culinary Arts students. There are still plans that are not quite secured yet on serving more than just desserts, and the PTA plans on meeting to discuss further details.

Decorations for the banquet are planned around trendy burlap and lace. The décor is meant to be cozy, just in time for winter, and the banquet will have a vintage, classy feel to it.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to reach out to show appreciation for their teachers, because students tend to forget how much time and effort their teachers put into them.
