The Timber Creek Falcons won their varsity Homecoming game against Irving 38-7 on Sept. 11, 2015. But even before the success on the football field, TCHS students were celebrating a successful homecoming.

Here is a message from Principal Todd Tunnell:

“I would like to give a big shout out of appreciation to all of our Cheerleaders, Student Council members, Varsity Football Team, their parents, coaches, and sponsors on the success of our 2015 Homecoming! The Parade was fabulous as usual and our STUCO kids were amazing as usual!  We are so proud of our football team for their exciting win Friday and for the huge success of our Homecoming Dance.  I am extremely proud of all of our students, their positive spirit, professionalism and the quality of the entire week.  Thank you to all who helped and supported our homecoming activities!”

Timber Creek Community Embraces “Project Beautiful”

project-beautiful-hd-001

The Timber Creek High School community came together on Friday to promote inner beauty.

“Project Beautiful” was held throughout the school day on Sept. 18, 2015. Girls were encouraged to come to school without wearing make up to promote natural beauty. Makeup removal stations were scattered about the school for girls who decided to participate later in the day, fully equipped by Timber Creek Student Council. All day, students were encouraged to write supportive notes on post-its and put them up around school, or even hand them to other students.

The movement was supported by many students, including organizer Brianna Mendez who discussed the project in a Talon interview before the event.

“The mission is simple on the surface, to tell everyone that they are beautiful, but, it’s more than that,” Mendez explained. “It’s aiming to tell everyone that they not only possess such an immense beauty, but that they are loved, cared for, not alone, and that there will always be someone for them to turn to.”

Updated Attendance Policies Announced

20150902_105526

Along with the whole new block schedule is a change in the attendance policy.

According to this updated policy, students can’t have more than nine absences in 1st or 5th period and more than five absences in 2nd-4th period. Students who exceed this attendance law may have to face further consequences such as credit denial.
There are two types of absences:
  1. Recognized (excused absences): These include documented medical appointments/court appearances, school-related activities, nationally recognized religious holidays, and documented college visits that are limited to two days per school year for juniors and seniors only.
  1. Non-recognized: These are absences that are caused by any other reasons that aren’t listed above.

When a student is absent, parents should call or email the attendance office:
Student last name beginning with A-L:
Elizabeth.harper@kellerisd.net
817-744-2340

Student last name beginning with M-Z:
Debra.boehringer@kellerisd.net
817-744-2341

Documented recognized absences must be turned in to the attendance office or faxed to 817-744-2337 within five business days.

For early dismissals, parents are suggested to call in advance. Dismissals after 3:15, however, must definitely be arranged in advance.

Because the school is not an open campus for lunch, students cannot be dismissed during their lunch period unless a parent is present. Those who leave the campus without approval and/or a pass from the attendance office will be given a non-recognized absence and may be subjected to disciplinary action.

Other Information:

  • Attendance details are available on Home Access Center.
  • You may have to leave the office a message if ever their phone is busy. Please mention the student’s name, reason for calling, dismissal time (if needed), and a callback name or number.
  • The school calendar contains state-testing dates. Plan appointments accordingly for there will be no dismissals on these dates.
  • Verification of Enrollment (VOE) forms can be requested in the attendance office and require 24 hours to prepare.

Project Graduation Offers Senior Book Fundraiser

The Project Graduation Committee plans to produce a Senior Book to be released on Senior Night, Oct. 29.

Project Graduation is an all-night celebration of graduation.  It is a fun, safe way for all the seniors to get together and have a good time on the night of graduation and it is the last time all seniors will have the opportunity to be together.

The goal of the Senior Book fundraiser is to promote senior specific events like Project Graduation, Prom, Graduation, Fall Senior Athletes, Senior Organization and Club members, and more. Senior parents can create fun memory ads for their senior that would be included in this one time publication. The proceeds will go to Project Graduation.

Ads purchased for this Senior Book are only included within the Project Graduation publication. For information on Senior Ads for The Creek Yearbook, please click here.
