Keller ISD students will see more menu choices as the District’s food service contractor, Sodexo, implements a mobile food truck at KISD high schools this fall.

The mobile food truck, expected to roll out toward the end of October 2015, will be one of the first of its kind in Texas public schools. The truck will operate one day per week at each of the four high schools (Monday-Thursday), while rotating at additional locations throughout the District on Fridays.

Each high school has designated a safe outside area for the food truck and Sodexo plans to provide outdoor seating in the area for those who wish to eat outdoors.

“The plan for a food truck in Keller ISD has been about two years in the making, as we were looking for new ways to reduce crowding and provide more choices during high school lunches,” Anita Peden, Director of Child Nutrition Operations and Maintenance, said. “The addition of the truck will give students an alternative at least one day a week.”

The menu featured will be the Sodexo “Street Eatz” concept, offering items like street tacos, fajitas, barbeque, pasta, grilled panini sandwiches, etc.  Students will be able to use their same lunch account that they would use in the cafeteria.
