January 19, 2018 the 14th Annual Kelley’s Awards were held at Timber Creek to honor the stars of the Keller ISD’s theatre program. Each school across the district comes together for one night to showcase their fall productions in hopes for a chance to win an award commending their performances. The Kelley’s recognizes everything from best actor and direction to scenic design and lighting allowing both cast and crew to be awarded and honored.

The Timber Creek theatre department won a total of five awards throughout the night recognizing the amazing musical “Music Manwhich they performed last November, receiving specific awards in Lighting, Scenic Design, Orchestra, Technical Direction and Actress in a Leading Role. The winners of each category are as follows.

Excellence in Scenic Design- Jack Gray

Excellence in Lighting and Projections- Tristea Shugert and Logan Williams

Best Orchestra- Timber Creek High School

Best Technical Direction- Lance Morse, Paul Raska, and Blake Wilson

Best Actress in a Leading Role- Floriana Azemi

Floriana Azemi, winner of Best Actress in a Leading Role described the experience as “like a dream” when her name was announced as the winning nominee.

“I have to admit all the hard work paid off” Azemi said of all the time she spent preparing for her role as Marian in the fall show Music Man. “I’m so thankful for everyone who helped me along the way” she gushes “especially my mom” giving special recognition to her biggest supporter.

Logan Williams, the co-winner of Excellence in Lighting and Projections, was beyond honored by the award.

“I had prepared myself to lose, honestly” Williams remarked, “When they announced our names I couldn’t believe it.”

As he reached the podium to give his acceptance speech he was still in shock.

“All words in the English language disappeared from my mind,” Williams said describing the complete joy it was to be recognized.

While all four Keller ISD high schools were honored on stage, broadcasters from Timber Creek had live coverage of the red carpet gala and the full awards show as well.
