Bowling Team Holds Try-Outs for Interested Members Beginning in October

Tryouts for the varsity and junior varsity 2017-18 bowling team will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays all October long. The team competes at Brunswick Zone in Watauga.

The equipment is provided by the Brunswick zone in Watagua, or students may provide their own. Coaches give the option to buy equipment from themselves at an affordable price.

In order to try out, interested bowling competitors need to schedule an appointment with coach Kevin Sheets or coach Paul Fleming.

For more information or to set up a tryout, contact bowling Sheets at Kevin.m.sheets@ftr.com or Fleming at Pfleming300@gmail.com. They can also contact returning members such as Kaitlyn Fleming, Marcus Nelson or Bryce Sheets.

“I’ve been apart of bowling team since my freshman year,” said Fleming. “It’s really fun to spend time with my peers and being the only girl on the varsity team and prove my skills while being in the minority.”

For the 2016-17 school year the team went to regionals, while also Fleming and Nelson qualified for regionals based on their own merit. Fleming also went to state by herself as well as with the team.

Bowling team has five members returning for the 2017-18 school year, so in order to qualify they need at least 10.
