The USA Wrestling National championships were held on March 24 through 26 in Oklahoma City. Timber Creek senior Rachel Bridges  is the 2017 Junior Folkstyle National Champion in the 225 lbs bracket. Bridges discussed how she prepared for the meet.

“I only wrestled at one practice a week before the meet. I mostly trained via jujitsu for cardio, but nothing special wrestling wise,” Bridges commented.

During the match, Bridges could feel the win in her future after the first takedown. Bridges plans to attend Baylor University in the fall, which at this point in time she plans to be apart of the wrestling club.

“Wrestling is not just a sport, its a lifestyle. Cutting weight while maintaining strength and endurance takes discipline determination and persistence,” Bridges said. “Wrestling has taught me that my mind can push through multiple challenges simultaneously.”
