The 2015-2016 Falcon Basketball season is underway and after the first three games of the year, the varsity Falcons have a 2-1 record.

Though the season got off to a rough start with a loss at home to the Frisco Lone Star Rangers, Timber Creek rebounded with a decisive victory over the Aledo Bearcats 75-51. The Falcons improved greatly from their previous outing, shooting 55-percent from the field and dominating on the defensive end.

Over the Thanksgiving break, the Falcons played at the Thanksgiving Hoopfest at Duncanville High School. The Falcons defeated Arlington Seguin, the #3 ranked team in the 5A, with a score of 61-60 in double overtime. The Falcons are led by scoring by senior DeVante Waldon, who is averaging 25.3 points per game. Senior Daylon Blosser is showing he is a deep threat by shooting 40-percent from the 3-point line. Junior Mikal Cooper is filling up the stat sheet by averaging 10.3 points, 6.3 assists, and 7.3 rebounds a game.

The JV comes into the season with high expectations from the coaching staff after a terrific year last year as freshman. The JV has lived up to those high expectations early, coming out of the gate strong with a 2-1 start. The defense has been anchored by 6’7 Nabil Rurangirw’s 3.7 blocks per game and dominant rebounding. On offense, David Valmore has led a fairly balanced offensive attack averaging an efficient 12.3 points a game on 45-percent shooting.

The Freshman A Basketball team opened their season against the Lone Star Rangers. The Falcons fought valiantly and came out victorious. The Falcon Freshman team is still trying to find their niche as they have fought hard in their first three games of the season.

Freshman B are off to a good start to the season, opening with two wins against Richland and Aledo. They have shown great tenacity on the defensive end, sparking their victories. Offensively, they are catching on quickly to the style of play they are learning.

The varsity Falcon Basketball Team will enter district play on Jan. 5, 2016 against Keller High School. The game will be covered live online by Timber Creek Broadcast Journalists and members of TCTV. Be sure to tune in!
