The Timber Creek varsity football team lost their first game Thursday, Aug. 27 against Irving Nimitz, 20-31. However, the boys did an excellent job of working as a team and fighting until the end.

TC had the ball at kick-off and began pushing their way down the field really giving those Vikings a run for their money. Number six, Malik, really showed the fans what it means to be a Falcon with an outstanding tackle keeping the Vikings from scoring. Even with the strong defensive play, the Falcons ended the first quarter 0-3.

Within the first 30 seconds of the second quarter Timber Creek scored their first touchdown. Later in the quarter, with four minutes left on the clock, number 25, Recie Saunders, bumped the score up with another touchdown.  TCHS ended the first half neck and neck at 13-17. Many students filled the stands and cheered on the boys along with our varsity cheerleaders.

During half time, the Sky Dancers performed their pom routine to “Fireball” by Pitbull and the band blew the fans away as they spelled out “FALCONS” on the field.

In the third quarter, Irving started with the ball, but TC quickly regained possession. Timber Creek scored again and kept the Vikings on their toes, going up by three and continuing to put up a great fight for the entire quarter.

Timber Creek started the fourth quarter in the lead, 20-17, but Nimitz came from behind and ended the game 20-31. The boys kept their heads held high as they joined the student body in the school song.

Timber Creek quarter back, Konner Pittman, kept things positive after the game tweeting, “Tough loss, but it just preseason that’s for making all the fine tune ups and getting ready for districts. Good work out there boys.”

The fans were still very proud of each one of the football players and enjoyed getting to see such an exciting game.

The varsity football team takes on Burleson next Friday, Sept. 4 in an away game at 7:30 p.m.
