The Keller Varsity Bass Team has had a successful first year.

That’s Bass as in the fish.

The fishing team is brand new to Keller, but being the newbie on the boat hasn’t stopped them from competing. In the Texas High School Bass Association State Regional Event in Lake Tyler the team placed 30th out of 179 teams.

For fishing in new water, the team did exceptionally well. Carter Vance and Brandon McClendon got personal records, the combined weight of their fish at 13.48 pounds. All of the members had good catches at the competition.

Now the team is recruiting new anglers for the upcoming season. A meeting will be held for all new and returning anglers on Tuesday, May 26 at 6:00 p.m. in the TCHS Lecture Hall. The team welcomes new members and hopes for a great second season.
