Timber Creek High School art students are celebrating an “amazing” performance at a regional art competition that will send dozens of pieces to the next level of competition.

The Visual Arts Scholastic Event, or VASE, had 26,838 registered entries in 25 regional high school events during the 2014 competition.

“Timber Creek students did amazing at Regional VASE this past weekend,” Art Teacher Chrissy Fitch said. “Timber Creek has 34 artworks advancing to state.”

Timber Creek State Qualifiers include the following students:

Hannah Haskin, Jessica Han, Josh Foster, Janae Fernandez (2 artworks), April Britton (2 artworks), Mackenzie Haughton, Dianna Laurent, Antonio Mendez (2 artworks), Sloane Miller(2 artworks), Elaine Nguyen, Mariangelis Pagan Marcano, Sarah Trinh, Isabela Uribe Lopez (2 artworks), Xu, Victoria, Lauren Bonham, Jake Howard, Rachel Jans, Sandra Meridew, Madi Parks, Shreena Patel, Audrie Potter, Kailyn Rhee, Sabrina Shrum, Kamron Gopffarth (2 artworks), Brittany Lukawski, Makyla Leclaire, and Hannah Atkinson

Fitch said there were over 250 Timber Creek artworks that received a top rating of 4 at the regional competition.

UPDATE: According to the Keller ISD Twitter, 133 pieces of artwork advanced to the state VASE competition. The district says 51 of those pieces were by Keller ISD students. 34 of those total 133 pieces of advancing artwork were created by Timber Creek art students. That means Timber Creek students have roughly 25-percent of the state entries in VASE. Amazing!
