Timber Creek High School students will have a “straight eight” alignment on their 2014-15 school year schedules, the district announced Friday.

Each student schedule will include 9 periods, made up of 8 instructional periods and a lunch. The “straight eight” alignment will have students attending the same periods each day Monday through Friday. All periods, including lunch periods, will be 45 minutes long.

Previously, the district released a modified block schedule that had students attending some classes for around 90 minutes on Wednesday and Thursday.

“We will be releasing an eight-period schedule that does not include the Wednesday-Thursday modified block,” the district said in a news post on their website. “Despite a successful test run on a smaller sample earlier this summer, software could not produce the complex model that included the two-day modified block on such a large scale and meet our standards.”

The district said students and parents will be able to access their schedules at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23 via the Home Access Center. However, the district cautioned that those schedules were still tentative as conflicts and adjustments will be made.
